Delivery Information

Our normal lead time to dispatch is 10 - 14 days.  

How long will it take to make and dispatch my item?

All our workbenches, outdoor tables, bars, potting tables and jeweller's benches are made to order. Our normal lead time to dispatch is 10 - 14 days, although bespoke items and special finishes may take a little longer. If you have a special requirement or deadline to meet, please do get in touch and we'll do our best to accommodate. 

Once you have placed your order, we'll send a confirmation email containing expected dispatch/delivery dates.

I see you use a “next working day courier” – can you guarantee my order will arrive on that day?

In short, no. We use and pay for this service with a nationwide courier (However, very occasionally an order may not arrive the next working day if the couriers have had issues or problems. This is obviously out of our control and we cannot be held liable for delayed delivery. We always endeavor to work swiftly to track your item and liaise with the couriers, to resolve any issues as soon as possible.

We always recommend ordering as early as possible to avoid urgent delivery situations. If you need an item for a certain date, please advise us BEFORE ordering so we can arrange this with our production staff.

Next day courier deliveries are trackable so if you haven't received it after 1 working day, please go onto your tracking information or email us for an update.

NB; orders to certain parts of Scotland invariably take 2 or occasionally 3 working days to arrive, once dispatched by us.

 Please see below for the exception delivery destinations.

Will I need to sign for the parcels?

If you can provide us with details of where to leave your parcels safe i.e in back garden, garage of with a certain neighbour; this will be printed on the labels for the driver to carry out. This will mean no signature is required. However, without such instructions before the item is dispatched, will result in a signature being needed. Our items are valuable and as such we cannot take the risk of these being left at the drivers discretion.

 

FREE NEXT DAY tracked delivery for orders of £85.00 or above. Bespoke benches and/or orders outside of website sizes may incur an additional delivery charge - see location exceptions below.

Orders below £85.00 will be charged at £8.99 

Delivery address

        We will deliver the products ordered by you to the address which you give for delivery when you make your order. If any of the details you have given us in your delivery address are incorrect or incomplete, we are not liable for any items which have not been received or delayed.

        You may specify a delivery address which is different from your billing address, if, for example, you would like us to deliver the products directly to a friend or relative or to your place of work. To avoid delays, it is always advisable to arrange for the item to be delivered to an address where someone is usually in.

        It is really helpful to give instructions for leaving an item safe i.e in a porch, behind a gate or with a specific neighbour. This can be passed onto our next day couriers at the time of dispatch.

        The following delivery destinations would not be available for a next day courier or free delivery.

        All Islands within UK - higher charges apply but vary so please message for a quotation before ordering.

        Scottish Highlands - (Postcodes AB, FK16-21, IV, KW1-14, PA21-40, PH10-41)  Delivery charge for these postcodes will be £31.40 for up to one workbench (max 5ft) or bar. For more than one item or if your postcode is not listed, please contact us for a quote. (You can however order accessories or an extra shelf)

        Northern Ireland - £39.90 per main item for a 3-4 day road service. Sorry we cannot send 6ft workbenches to this destination. Please message us BEFORE ordering if you wish to order more than one workbench/potting table as there will be a higher cost. Use the drop down box at the checkout to select the correct shipping charge.

        What are your delivery charges?

        Any order placed after 5pm will be treated as being received the next working day. We will send you confirmation of the planned dispatch date at our earliest opportunity and we can work together to plan for a convenient delivery day.

        Can I change or choose my delivery day?

        Yes. Once you've placed your order we will confirm your order with an email, giving you the day of dispatch and your expected delivery day. If this is not a convenient delivery day you can reply to our email requesting an alternative day. As long as this is a forward date and a working day (Monday - Friday) we will be happy to accommodate this for you.

        Can the courier leave my order safe as I may not be home?

        Yes. Please message us during the payment process / checkout or send us a message through our contact us page, giving clear instructions. This may be for example leave with a neighbour or leave behind a gate if out etc. NB: WE USE SHOWERPROOF PACKAGING.

        I need my order urgently can you dispatch it quicker?

        This may be possible depending on workloads / orders in our order book. Please message or phone us, if we can accommodate a faster turnaround, we will.

        Do you prices include VAT?

        We are not VAT registered and therefore VAT is not charged.

        I can't find the assembly instructions?

        These are inside the clear address wallet on the outside of the packaging - there should be a label indicating this.         How can I work out what height to have my workbench or potting table?

        There are a number of suggestions about working this out and it also will depend on what you are using your bench for. For close-up or precision work you may want it higher but for planing, it might be more comfortable lower. A good starting point is: Stand upright in your usual working footwear. Measure from the ground to your elbow. Adjust this measurement depending on the work envisaged or if you are still growing. Our standard height of 90cm is usually the same as kitchen worktops.

        What is the height measurements between the shelf and the frame?

        This should be detailed on each listing as it varies between our workbench ranges. Endurance range - our standard single shelf workbench will give you 53cm height space for storing items. We can drop the shelf to the floor for no extra charge which would give you approx 62cm of height space. If you are having two shelves then the height is approx 25cm for storage. Again, the shelves could be slightly repositioned at no extra charge; please message us first.

        Does Greenfields Wood Store make all of their wooden products?

        Yes. They are all made in our Sussex workshop by skilled tradesman who work to our high standards and strict build plans and templates. They are made to order.

        Missing bolts or parts.

        On the rare occasions this might happen we will endeavour to send out replacement parts ASAP (normally the same or next day) with our next day tracked courier.

        Damage in transit.

        This happens very rarely as we spend a lot of time in protecting / packaging all of our products for delivery. If this should happen, please make contact with us ASAP and send us pictures of the damage and we will deal with it quickly and professionally in order to rectify the issue. 

        Can I collect from your workshop and is there a discount?

        Yes. You can collect from us at our East Sussex  workshop, this would need to be pre-arranged and confirmed by us. We offer a £10.00 discount for collection . To receive your £10.00 collection discount please email us before ordering.

        I need a bespoke size can you help?

        Yes for the Endurance range of workbenches. We can can change the width and height (including shelf position) or indeed we can look at a different design to best suit your needs..please send us a message.

        If you want to simply change the height of a workbench you can go onto our "accessories" and find the "Change the Height" listing use the drop down box to change to you desired height.

        Do you brand your products?

        Yes. With a small disc on the top front frame.

        Treatment of Wood

        Our wooden handmade product range is supplied to you in its raw natural untreated condition. They do not need to be treated unless you wish to paint them to match a colour scheme or they are being used in a potentially damp or wet environment. If this is the case then we recommend using an oil to protect it from water moisture such as "Teak oil" or "Linseed oil" by simply wiping on with a cloth. Linseed oil can be purchased under our "Accessories"

        Teak Oil

        Suitable for exterior and interior wood surfaces; teak oil feeds the wood grain, protecting it against UV rays and water stains.

        When applied to wood, the excess oil should be removed before the teak oil has dried, with additional coats added every 12 hours. It is recommended to maintain teak oil protected surfaces with a fresh layer 1 to 2 times a year. After the finishing layers have been applied and lightly sanded, teak oil can be buffered up to leave a silky smooth surface.

        Linseed Oil

        Wipe the surface with a cloth, after the linseed oil has soaked into a surface, wipe away the excess oil and then buff the surface with a clean cloth. To reach a desired finish, several layers of linseed oil may need to be applied, with sufficient drying time between each coat.

        It is not recommended to use linseed oil on exterior woods / pressure treated wood.

        Painting raw wood - Follow these simple steps

        1. Sand your item
          For a smooth finish, use a flexible-foam sanding sponge or 220-grit sandpaper. If your piece has knots, sand them until they’re even with the grain.
        2. Dust furniture
          To remove residual dust, you can use a clean cloth or a vacuum.
        3. Prime
          To seal the wood, roll or paint a coat of primer over the entire item. You can also use spray primer. Priming hides imperfections and provides a surface for the paint to adhere to. Let dry for at least an hour.
          If you’re not sure whether you want a shiny or a flat finish, try flat first. You can always re-cover flat with a satin or a semi-gloss, but it’s harder to go in reverse and cover the sheen.
        4. Paint
          Using a roller on large surfaces and a brush on smaller ones, apply a coat of paint.
        5. Let dry for at least two hours
          When the paint is dry, use a clean brush to apply a second coat of paint (two coats are generally the minimum needed for a nice, even finish).

        Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc. (“Shopify”).Shopify provides us with the secure online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and provide the Service to you. As such, your data is stored through Shopify’s data storage, databases and the general Shopify application, and thus is also subject to Shopify’s Terms of Service and Privacy Statement. Shopify stores your data on a secure server behind a firewall. 

        If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Shopify stores your credit card data. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction.
